B.Sc. – Medical Record Science

Medical Record Technology or Health Information Technology is a field that has variety of functions in a health care system. Maintenance of good health information system needs understanding of contents of patient’s records, collection of data, application of statistical techniques, Forms Designing, understanding of Medico Legal aspects and statutory laws related to health care.

The main role of medical record department is to provide health information services. The functions of medical record personnel are to design patient information, administer medical record sciences – planning, directing, controlling, assist the medical staff; develop statistical and other informative reports. The aim of this course is to train the students in all aspects about the functioning of Medical Records Department, updating their knowledge and skills especially in the Medical Coding (Diagnosis & Procedure – based on the World Health Organization Standards), Statistics, Computer Application in Health Information Management and its recent advances.
